 Kuthirayan tunnel is a twin highway tunnel which is in the southern part of India .This tunnel is owned by National Highway Authority Of India .This tunnel is Kerala's first ever tunnel for road transport .This tunnel is considered as South India's longest six lane road tunnel.Construction of the work started on 2016.   The tunnel is in NH 544 between vadakkancherry and Mannuthi,Kerala,India. The length is 920 meters as per the plan. But it is one kilometer which including the tunnel entrance. The height is 10 meters. The gap between two tunnels is 20 meter. The tunnel is near to a wild sanitary heritage area. The tunnel helps to reduce the traffic. Moreover tunnel reduces the distance of three kilometers , that is 1.86 miles from Kochi to Coimbatore. It took a decade to finish it's work.
