  Jackfruit is mostly known as Jack tree, which belongs to the species of mulberry and breadfruit family. It's origin is in rainforests of Malasiya and western Ghats of South India.

Jackfruit is the Kerala's official fruit. Which is the largest tree borne fruit known for it's distinct taste and aroma. The state Government of Kerala made an official announcement in this regard on 2018March 21,based on a proposal of the Agricultural department. The announcement made by Agricultural Minister, VS Sunil Kumar in the State Assembly in the same day.

Moreover, the Kerala Government also have plans to promote the 'Kerala Jack fruit' as a brand in markets across the county and abroad, highlighting it's organic and nutritious qualities.



Method Of Preparation

Take raw jackfruit, chop into small pieces
Can use jackfruit seeds as well as per your choice.
Take twenty tablespoon of freshly grated coconut, quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder , three green chilies, fifteen pepper corns, ten shallots , five garlic , quarter teaspoon of cumin seeds and a stick of fresh curry leaf.
Transfer to a mixi jar and crush them.
Donot over grind the mix.
Put the raw jackfruit in a pressure cooker , add a teaspoon of salt.
Mix well and add half glass of water , cook for a whistle.
Once jackfruit is cooked well , add salt to the prepared mix .Put the mix over the cooked jackfruit , cover the cooker and cook once again.
Cook till the steam comes out and water reduces in the jackfruit.
Switch off the flame and mash the jackfruit well.
Add a stick of fresh curry leaves and rest for five minutes.
After five minutes , serve with hot and spicy fish curry.

Raw Jackfruit( Cut and chopped into pieces) - One Basket 
Coconut - Twenty Tablespoons
Turmeric Powder - Quarter Teaspoon
Green Chili - Three Nos
Pepper Corns - Fifteen Nos
Shallots - Ten Nos
Garlic - Five Nos
Cumin Seeds - Quarter Teaspoon
Curry Leaves- Two Sticks
Water - Half Glass
Salt - As Per Taste
