Chicken Thoran ||Chicken Coconut Stir Fry Ep no:181

Chicken thorn or chicken coconut stir fry is one of the popular side dishes in many non vegetarian feast across Kerala.But it is believed that the origin of this dish is at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala.The sauced chicken is famous for its enhanced taste of coconut with special spice mix.

 Ingredients

Chicken- 250 grams,Breast pieces/ boneless chicken
Shallots- 8 Nos, crushed
Coconut oil-Four tablespoon
Mustard seeds- Quarter teaspoon
Turmeric powder- Quarter tablespoon
Kashmiri Chili powder- Quarter teaspoon
Red Chile powder- Quarter teaspoon
Garam Masala- Half teaspoon
Pepper powder- Quarter teaspoon
Ginger Garlic paste- One teaspoon
Curd - Two teaspoon
Coconut - Four tablespoon, freshly grated
Cumin seeds - Quarter teaspoon
Cardamom - Three Nos
Cloves - Six Nos
Cinnamon - Three Nos
Salt - As per taste
Water- As required 


Method of preparation

Take a pan and add four tablespoon of coconut oil.
When oil heats up, add quarter teaspoon mustard seeds.
Once mustard seeds pop up, add , crushed shallots, saute well.
Now add marinated chicken pieces with  one teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 
quarter teaspoon Kashmiri chilies powder, quarter teaspoon red chilies powder ,
half teaspoon garam masala, quarter teaspoon pepper powder,  two teaspoons of curd ,salt and 
kept for half an hour after marination.
Mix chicken pieces well with shallots and then add quarter glass water to cook chicken.
As the chicken is tender, it cooks fast.
Then in a mixi jar, take four tablespoon of freshly grated coconut, quarter teaspoon cumin seeds, 
three cardamom, six cloves, three pieces of cinnamon , quarter teaspoon turmeric powder, quarter 
teaspoon red chilies powder and salt. Grind well and make into thick paste.
Once chicken cooked well, add the prepared coconut mix in it.
Pour some water in the mixi jar, rotate it and add to the chicken paste.
Mix well, cover and cook well.
Cook till the coconut masala cooks along with chicken and dry well.
The coconut mix should coat well with the chicken.
This dish can be served with hot rice, chapatti and appam.
