ChemmeenPollichathu || Prawns Cooked In Banana Leaf || Ep No : 155

 Chemmeen pollichathu is one of the delicious south Indian food which is prepared with prawns.For those who loves seafood or prawns , then this recipe is for you.If you are a prawns and seafood lover and want to try some thing unique and lip - smacking then this recipe will be surely the for you.Pamper your loved ones and family with this delicious and yummy recipe , by following the few steps  and enjoy this traditional delicacy.



Method Of Preparation

Take cleaned and deveined half kilograms of prawns.

Add quarter teaspoon turmeric powder and quarter teaspoon of pepper powder .

Mix well and allow to rest for twenty minutes.

Switch on the flame and add coconut oil.

When it is hot add four sticks of fresh curry leaves and fry prawns

Cook prawns on low to  medium flame.

Make sure not to over cook prawns as it turns rubbery.

Once prawns are shallow fried , take out from the pan.

Again keep the same oil which is used for frying prawns.

Now add half tablespoon of ginger and half tablespoon garlic paste , mix well..

When the raw taste of ginger and garlic goes, add four chopped onion.

Add.half teaspoon salt and stir well until it turns soft.

Add three green chilies and saute well.

Then add two chopped tomatoes and cook well.

Add one and half tablespoon of Kashmiri red chili powder and half tablespoon of coriander powder.

Then add half tablespoon of fennel seeds, quarter tablespoon of turmeric powder , three fourth tablespoon of pepper powder , quarter tablespoon of garam masala.

Mix well until raw smell goes off.

Add roasted   prawns and mix well to the prepared masala.

Take banana leaf and steam on flame to avoid tear.

Keep a small portion of prawns to the banana  leaf.

Sprinkle a pinch of pepper powder , pinch of fennel seed powder, pinch of garam masala,a stick of fresh curry leaves, and a stick of African coriander leaves.

Wrap the banana leaf and tie a knot with banana thread.

Switch on the flame and keep a pot.

Add two drops of coconut oil and spread well.

When pot gets hot, keep the prepared prawns to it.

Flip when one side of banana leaf is changes its color.

Then cover and cook for ten minutes.

Once steam comes out and the leaf grilled well by changing the color , switch off the flame.

Transfer to a plate and enjoy with hot rice, appam or chappathi.

Prawns- Half Kilograms

Turmeric Powder - Half Tablespoon

Pepper Powder - One Tablespoon

Coconut Oil - For Frying 

Curry Leaves - Four Sticks

Ginger Paste - Half Tablespoon

Garlic Paste- Half Tablespoon

Onion - Four Nos

Green Chili- 3 Nos

Tomato- Two Nos

Kashmiri Red Chili Powder - One And Half Tablespoon

Coriander Powder - Half Tablespoon

Fennel Seeds Powder - Half Tablespoon

Garam Masala - Quarter Tablespoon

Banana Leaf - Three Nos

Coriander Leaf- Three Nos

Salt -As Per Taste
