Winged Bean is a tropical herbaceous legume plant.It grows well in the hot humid equatorial countries of Asia.It is nutrient rich and all parts of the plant are edible.Leaves can be eaten like spinach, flowers can be used in salads , tubers can be eaten raw or cooked and seeds are used as like soya beans.It is widely known plant for its health benefits , but cultivated only in  a small scale.The plant grows as climbers .The tender pods of the plant are widely selected to eat of the plant .Each of its parts contain Vitamin A, Vitamin C,Calcium and Iron .The seeds are about 35% protein and 18% fat.The beans are not only rich in protein, but also rich in tocopherols ,which is an antioxident that facilitate Vitamin A utilisation in the body.

Method Of Preparation

Take fifteen tender winged beans, wash well under running water.

Remove the wings from four sides gently.

Cut the winged beans thinly as much as can.

Take three tablespoon of freshly grated coconut, one shallot, quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder and quarter teaspoon coriander powder.

Crush them.

Switch on the flame and keep an earthen pot.

Add quarter teaspoon of salt and mix well.

Add the prepared mix to the winged beans.

Pour quarter cup of water which is needed to cook winged beans.

The winged beans take at least ten minutes to cook well on low to medium flame.

Add sliced two green chilies for the spiciness and a stick of fresh curry leaves.

Cook on high flame until boils.

When it boils, reduce the flame and cook well.

Once it dry and cooked well, add a stick of fresh curry leaves .

switch off the flame .

Serve with hot rice.

It is an oil free healthy recipe, and hence it is ideal for weight loss plan.



Ingredients 

Tender Winged Beans - Fifteen Nos

Freshly Grated Coconut - Three Tablespoon

Shallots - One Nos

Turmeric Powder- Quarter Teaspoon

Coriander Powder- Quarter Teaspoon

Green Chilies - Two Nos

Fresh Curry Leaves - Two Sticks

Salt - As Per Taste

Water - As Required
