Mushrooms / toadstool is a fleshy , spore - bearing fruiting body of the fungus , mostly produced above the soil .Mushrooms are a rich in proteins and anti oxidents  .Moreover they are the low calorie source for fiber.Standard name for the mushroom is Agaricus Bisporus .Mostly mushrooms are most often applied to those fungi Basidiomycota Agaricomycetes , which has a stem ( stipe ), a cap ( Pileus ), and gills ( lamellae, sing .lamella ) on the underside of the cap.They are also describes a wide variety of other gilled fungi , which is with or with out stems , ther fore they are usually describe with the fleshy fruiting bodies of some Ascomycota.These gills of the mushrooms produces microscopic spores that help the fungus to spread across the ground or the surface.

One cup of mushrooms contains :

Calories - 15

Protein - 2.2 Grams

Fat - 0.2 Grams

Carbohydrates : 2.3 Grams

Fiber - 0.7 Grams

Sugar - 1.4 Grams

Method of preparation :

Wash the mushrooms under running water, since it contains more mud in it , especially the root parts and the bottom of the umbrella.

It's because most of the natural mushrooms are available during the rainy season.

After washing the mushrooms, drain well.

Then chop the mushrooms by cutting the stem part first.

Cut stem area into four and then chop into small pieces.

After chopping stem area , slit the umbrella with the help of knife and then chop them into small pieces.

Chop eight small onions into small pieces, as mushrooms chopped.

Slit green chili along with the mushrooms.

Switch on the flame  and keep a pan.

Pour one tablespoon of fresh coconut oil to it.

When coconut oil heats up, add half teaspoon mustard seeds .

When mustard seeds pop up, add fresh one stick curry leaves.

Then add chopped mushrooms, sliced onions and green chilies together.

Add salt and half teaspoon turmeric powder.

Pour half glass water to cook mushrooms .

Cover and cook mushrooms on medium flame.

When mushrooms gets boils, stir well, keep flame on low and cook well .

When the water in the mushrooms dry to half , add four teaspoon full of freshly grated coconut, so that salt and taste of mushrooms will get to the coconut too.  stir well.

Cover and cooks till the water completely dry well and until mushrooms softens.

Switch off the flame and enjoy with hot rice as a side dish for the rice.

This is a best dish for the rice wrapped in banana leaf too.

Ingredients:

Mushroom - Two Nos

Small Onion -

Green Chili - One Nos

Coconut Oil - One Tablespoon

Mustard Seeds - Half Teaspoon

Curry Leaves - One Nos

Turmeric Powder - Half Teaspoon

 Freshly Grated Coconut - Four Tablespoon

Salt - As Per Taste 

Water - Half Cup
