puttu Kerala Style || Traditional Method || Ep No :108


Here's the recipe of puttu or steamed Funnel Cake in an traditional way. It's a healthy breakfast that can be taken by all age groups. As it's prepared in steam, it is the best choice for people with health issues. The best combination is banana or black chickpeas curry /Bengal Gram curry made in Kerala Style. It should be served hot to enjoy its softness and taste. Even for kids it can be given along with sugar.The rice flour prepared freshly will give you an authentic taste of Kerala Puttu.

Here's the recipe of puttu in traditional method .
Take 2 glasses of raw white rice, wash well and soak over night.
Next day wash and drain water from rice.
Take news paper and a clean cloth, spread rice over to the cloth.
Cloth absorbs the remaining water in the rice.
Spread another news paper , transfer rice to a mixi jar and powder it.
Serve it through a siever.
Keep a vessel and roast rice powder slightly.
When steam comes out and rice powder become soft and smooth , switch off the flame.
When rice flour is ready, will get the smell of puttu , until that we can roast rice flour.
Take one glass of water and add half teaspoon of salt.
Sprinkle salt water and wet rice flour slowly.
Add 5 tablespoon of grated coconut and mi well to the rice flour.
Take puttu maker and add some water , bring to boil.
In the funnel , add one teaspoon grated coconut and fill rice flour.
Keep a teaspoon of grated coconut on the top of the rice flour.
Keep the funnel over the puttu makes cover and cook well.
Cook until steam comes out.
The white raw rice costs Indian Rupees 35/- per kg as on october 2020.
Take out from the puttu maker and transfer puttu from the funnel with the help of a stick.
Serve hot with banana or Kerala style black chick peas or bengal gram curry.



Ingredients
Raw White Rice - 2 Cups
Grated Coconut - 5 Tablespoon
Salt - As Per Taste
Water - As Required
