Carrot Thoran or Carrot Upperi is an yummy recipe which is best combination with hot rice. Here's the recipe without oil, so that it's best for those seeking weight loss. Those who are on weight loss journey, avoid sugar and reduce the amount of coconut and salt as shown in the recipe for better result. Carrot is a colourful fruit and hence its favorite among children.



Method Of Preparation

Here's the recipe of carrot thoran which is best combination with hot rice.
Take 500 grams of carrot, wash under running water.
Remove the outer skin of carrot and chop them.
Take 3 tablespoon of freshly grated coconut.
Add one teaspoon chili powder, half teaspoon coriander powder, one shallot, 2 garlic and a pinch of turmeric powder.
Crush on a mixi jar with out adding water.
Add half tablespoon of salt to the carrot and mix well.
Transfer the crushed mix to the carrot.
Add little water and cook on high flame until steam comes up.
Then reduce the flame and cook well until carrot softens.
Stir well , once carrot cooks, add quarter teaspoon sugar and switch off the flame.
Mix well until the sugar mix well with the carrot.
Adding sugar gives a special taste to the carrots.
Stir well and keep open until the steam goes off fully .
Its an oil free recipe and hence it can be a choice during dieting.
Serve with hot rice.



Ingredients

Carrots - 500 Grams
Grated Coconut - 3 Tablespoon
Chili Powder - One Teaspoon
Coriander Powder - Half Teaspoon
Shallot - One Nos
Garlic - 2 Nos
Turmeric Powder - One Pinch
Curry Leaves - 3 Sticks
Sugar - Quarter Teaspoon
Salt - As Per Choice
Water - As Required
