 Ginger is basically a flowering plant. It's Rhizome is the ginger root or ginger, which is widely used as common spice and also considered as medicine for various diseases in folk medicine. This is a herbaceous perennial plant which grows around one meter tall with narrow leaf blades.

Ginger contains gingerol and hence it has got many medicinal properties. It can be used as a medicine for morning sickness in pregnancy. This is a powerful weight loss ailment. Reduces the risk of heart diseases and dramatically reduces blood sugar levels. This is a good medicine for indigestion and bloating. It is a powerful anti oxident and anti - inflammatory effects too.

It can be used as fresh, dried, powdered or else as in juice form. It is a common ingredient in many dishes. It can be added to the processed foods and even in cosmetics. Here explains the method to preserve ginger, which is grown in small scale and harvested in home for 6 months period. Those ginger harvested from home is 100% pure, natural and organic.

Take Ginger , wash and remove its outer root like structure.
Keep some for seeds ,They should be wrapped in polythene cover and store in cool place.
Don't allow the seedlings to dry , as it cannot be grown as plant there after.
Remaining ginger, keep in a plastic flat container ,after draining excess water from it.
Then store in vegetable box of the refrigerator.
It can be stored in such a way for up to 6 months with out any decay.
Don't over crowd the ginger and also don't into small pieces during preservation.
