Elephant foot yam is an amazing root vegetable with lot of health benefits especially for the digestive system of the human body .There are many suffering from gastro intestinal problems like Irritable bowel syndrome and bloating due to overweight as a part of unhealthy life style .The good gut bacteria , which is abundantly present n this vegetable enhances digestive process and hence its a good choice for people suffering from over weight issues as it promotes weight loss and get relief from irritable bowel syndromes.
Take 500 grams of elephant yam, cut into medium size pieces.
Then chop into small pieces.
Wash under running water and transfer to a pressure cooker.
Take 6 tablespoon of freshly grated coconut and put 12 Bird's eye chilies , 2 shallots , a pich of coriander powder, quarter teaspoon turmeric powder , a pinch of salt and one stick fresh curry leaves.
Grind without adding water.
Add one teaspoon salt to elephant yam , mix well, and add the prepared mix
Add one fourth glass water and close pressure cooker and cook on high flame initially.
When cooker gets hot , reduce the flame to medium and cook elephant yam.for a whistle.
After a whistle , switch off the flame and wait until pressure inside cooker goes off.
When pressure released, open cooker , mix well , check the cooking level of the elephant yam.
If yam cooked well,check spice level and add a stick of fresh curry leaves .
Cover cooker for 10 minutes and then serve with hot rice or porridge.
It's an excellent recipe for weight loss as it's an oil free healthy recipe.

Elephant Yam - 500 Grams
Freshly Grated Coconut - 6 Tablespoon
Bird's Eye Chili - 12 Nos
Coriander Powder - One Pinch
Turmeric Powder - Quarter Teaspoon
Shallots - 2 Nos
Curry Leaves - 2 Sticks
Salt - As Per Taste
Water - One Fourth Cup
