Sting less Bee Harvesting,Small Bee Harvesting And Transferring,Honey Collection
Its regarding collection and transferring honey from sting less bees or small honey bees.
We had a box of sting less bees hanged on the west side of our house.
We didn't collect honey for the past one and half years ,hence honey got leaked from the box.
Ideal time to collect honey is during night.
Its better if you cover your face and head with a towel before the honey collection.
After wiping the box with a clean towel, open the box with a spoon or knife.
Collect honey sacs from them with a clean and dry spoon.
It's good to use utensils made of glass to collect honey.
The yellow colored one inside the box are its eggs and larvae.
Eggs and larvey's should not be disturbed while collecting honey.
Make sure that the box is clean and dry.
Don't disturb the eggs and larvey's , gently collect the honey.
The yellow colored one other than egg and larvae are the pollen's.
Take an another box to transfer some eggs and larvae.
Clean the box properly and wipe with a dry towel.
Transfer some eggs and larvae along with some honey sacs for food until they grow up.
Close the box properly.
You can prepare so many boxes like this at your home.
At night time itself hang the box in which the honey was collected.
Filter the collected honey through a strainer.
Make sure the strainer and bowl is dry.
These are sting less bees with 2 mm to 5 mm length.
But will get very little honey from them compare to big bee,s that is its main drawback.
So that its honey is very expensive.
Usually it is used in Ayurvedic medicines for wound healing,burns,increasing memory and even used for ayurvedic medicines for children.
These small bees collect honey only from flowers.
Where as big bees drink even sugar syrups and make honey.
Usually honey will not be collected after 5 days of new moon as it is believed to spoil honey.
Newly transferred box containing eggs and larveys should be allowed to rest for one day.
Make sure it is away from sunlight and other insects which disturbs them .For example : Ants
Bees collects honey from trees like coco,jack fruit,guava and plants like Basil and roses ,But there is a plant known as Antigonon Leptopus or coral vine with pink flowers.
Usually it flourish during rainy season.
Usually this plant make allow to grow near to the bee box are hanged.
These bunches of pink flowers gives honey to the bees during rainy season.
As bees cant go out during rain to collect its food-honey.
Bees can also make shelters in between stones and tiles of the roof.
Bees will make a wax to seal the edges of the box and make an entrance to get in and out of the box.
Closely watch the box for at least 2 weeks after hanging.If bees are getting any disturbances from other insects, it will go and never ever stay in the box.
