Tomato Chutney || Thakkali Chammanthi|| Side Dish For Dosa, Idli, Chappathi And Bread|Episode No :32

This is a versatile chutney which can be served with breakfast like Dosa, Idli and Chapathi.Its very easy to prepare and can be stored in refrigerator for few days.It has a secret ingredient - Seaseme seeds - which gives a classic nutty flavor.This is all time favorite since it can make very easily with few ingredients.Its a delicious onion  tomato based chutney which  has a tangy, nutty and spicy flavor.Not only for the breakfast dishes, but also it is a best combination with rice.

Ingredients

Onion ( Big size ) - 1 Nos
Tomato - 3 Nos
Garlic - 6 Nos
Seaseme seeds  ( White ) - 2 Teaspoon
Coriander seeds - One fistful
Sunflower oil - 2 Table spoon
Turmeric powder - Quarter teaspoon
Dry red chili powder - Half teaspoon
Asafoetida - One pinch
Salt- As per taste 


Method of preparation

Take one big size onion,3 tomatoes, 6 garlic , 2 teaspoon seaseme seeds and some fresh coriander leaves
Chop onion, tomatoes , garlic and coriander leaves
Keep a pan and dry roast seaseme seeds
Once seaseme seeds turns golden color , switch off the flame and transfer seaseme seeds to a plate to avoid burning
Keep a pan and add 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil
To the heated pan add chopped onion and required salt, sort well
When onion starts to change its color, add garlic and mix well until it turns golden brown color
When onion turns golden brown color, add chopped tomatoes and mix well
When tomatoes starts to cook, add quarter teaspoon turmeric powder, half teaspoon dry red chili powder and a pinch of asafoetida
Mix well together till raw smell goes off
Check salt and add if required., sort until tomatoes cooks well
Finally add chopped fresh coriander leaves
Just have a mix and put off the flame , allow to cool
Roasted seaseme seeds and sorted tomatoes are cooled well,grind both of them together without adding water
First add seaseme seeds, powder it and then add roasted tomatoes and grind well
Check salt, flavor and its spice level
Since not added water , you can store it in refrigerator for 2 to 3 days
The seaseme seeds gives a nutty flavor and thick texture to the tomato chutney

Its a variety chutney can be served with rice, dosa, idli , bread ,chappathi and rice.
