Semiya Payasam Kerala Style||Vermicelli Payasam||Semiya Kheer||Milk Payasam||Sadya Recipe||Ep No: 33

Semiya payasam is a dessert prepared with roasted sago rice, vermicelli,cashew nuts,raisins and milk.This is my all time favorite dessert.Here is the recipe of my mother, who prepares this on all special occasions like birthdays of myself , my brother and all festivals.This is the favorite payasam of my brother too.It is very easy to prepare and have a sweet creamy flavor which tastes delicious after adding roasted nuts and raisins with ghee.This semiya payasam always has special place in my heart, since it gives lot of memories of my childhood and the unforgettable moments when mother used to prepare.The cardamom adds a special flavor to the dessert.This sweet simple and deliciously flavored semiya payasam is one of the best Indian desserts ever.



Ingredients

Milk - 500 ml
Sago rice - One fistful
Vermicelli ( Un roasted )- 150 grams
Cashew nuts - One fistful
Raisins - One fistful
Ghee - 6 Teaspoon
Water - 4 glass
Cardamom- 5 Nos
Sugar - Three fourth cup



Method of preparation

Take 500 ml of full fat cream milk and 150 grams of un roasted vermicelli
Take a fistful of sago rice and a handful of cashew nuts and raisins
Keep a pan and dry roast sago rice on a very low flame
When sago rice is roasted well switch off the flame and transfer to a plate
Add 3 tablespoon of ghee and roast vermicelli
When it's roasted well and starts changing its color, switch off the flame and transfer to a plate immediately to avoid over burning
Keep a pressure cooker and add 4 glasses of water
Add roasted sago rice and cook for a whistle
Keep a pan, add milk and boil it
Keep a pan and add 4 glasses of water and allow to boil
Add roasted vermicelli to the boiled water
Stir well for 5 to 6 minutes
When vermicelli is cooked well, add cooked sago rice
Mix well and add boiled milk
Make sure the milk is hot before adding, stir well
Check sugar and add if its required
Crush 5 cardamoms and add for the flavor
Add 2 teaspoons of ghee
Mix cardamom powder and ghee to the milk
To the pan add two teaspoon of ghee and roast cashew nuts until it turns golden brown and transfer to a plate
Add raisins and roast well, transfer to a plate immediately
Transfer the roasted cashews and raisins to the prepared mix
Finally check sugar , flavor and taste

The best combination is sweet boli or sweet boondhi.

It is one of the dish in traditional Kerala sadya usually served during Onam and Vishu festivals.

Once its ready, switch off the flame and serve after 5 minutes.

It is one of the easy payasam's that every one can make
Its creamy , sweety and delicious dessert.
