Easy And Tasty Fish Curry|| Yellow Fin Tuna Curry|| Kerala Style Fish Curry|| Episode No :24

Easy fish curry is prepared with very less ingredients and spices . It can be served with rice ( preferably Kerala Matta rice) or tapiocca.This fish curry is prepared with yellow fin tuna and its came out well.But you can use any fleshy fish of your choice.Fish curries are signature dish of Kerala since Kerala has vast coastal area,numerous rivers and backwaters.This fish curry is prepared with fish tamarind /Kudampuli/ pot tamarind/garcinia cambogia. Unlike all other traditional method of preparation, this fish curry is not prepared by using coconut or coconut milk.The ingredients are so simple and readily available.And hence its very easy to prepare at home.The sourness of fish tamarind and the thickness from shallots  and tomatoes along with the spiciness of chili powder gives the special taste and feature for this fish curry. 



Ingredients 

Yellow Fin Tuna  - 500 grams
Turmeric powder - Half teaspoon
Dry red chili powder- 2 teaspoon
Kashmiri chili powder- 2 teaspoon
Garcinia Cambogia/ pot tamarind / Kudampuli - 4 pieces
Curry leaves - 3 sticks
Shallots - 15 Nos
Tomato - 2 Nos
Coonut oil - 4 teaspoon
Water - Three fourth cup
Salt - As per taste ( preferably stone salt ) 



Method of preparation

Take 500 grams of yellow fin tuna , wash and drain well
To marinate fish pieces, add quarter teaspoon turmeric powder, one and half teaspoon dry red chili powder, one and half teaspoon kashmiri chili powder,4 pieces of Garcinia Cambogia/ pot tamarind kudampuli 
Cut pot tamarind into small pieces
Take a stick of fresh curry leaves and chop it
Mix pot tamarind, curry leaves, turmeric powder, red chili powder, kashmiri chili powder along with some stone salt and mix by adding 4 to 5 teaspoon of water 
Marinate the fish pieces well
Allow the marinated  fish pieces to rest for half an hour to one hour
Take 15 shallots, two tomatoes and a stick of curry leaves
Chop shallots lengthwise and tomatoes into small pieces
Keep a clay pot and add 3 teaspoon of coconut oil 
To the heated oil add chopped shallots ,stone salt and mix well until it turns translucent
Add chopped tomatoes along with a stick of fresh curry leaves and smash well
Add quarter teaspoon turmeric powder, half teaspoon dry red chili powder, half teaspoon kashmiri chili powder 
Sort well till the raw smell goes off
Add marinated fish pieces
Gently mix and add three fourth cup of water and cook on a medium flame
When it boils check salt and add if required
Turn the pot in between to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pot
But don't put wooden spatula to mix
After few minutes of boiling check the sour level of the gravy and add more pot tamarinds if required
Once its cooked well and oil separates , check the flavor
Finally add a stick of fresh curry leaves and a teaspoon of raw coconut oil and put off the flame


Its an Easy and delicious fish curry goes well with rice, preferably Kerala Matta rice an tapiocca.
