Vellarikka Moru Curry || Pulissery |Yogurt Curry With Cucumber | Kerala Sadya Recipe |No :17

In cucumber yogurt curry ,the Indian cucumber is cooked in a spicy coconut mix and yogurt gravy.Its one of the traditional dish in Kerala sadya menu.The best combination is hot rice ( Preferably Kerala Matta rice ). This curry is slightly sour and spicy with yogurt gravy along with soft but crunchy cucumber.I am sure you all will Love it's flavors that goes into the curry since it's different and yummy.Fall in love with this delicious curry.Do prepare at home during lunch and you will realize what a comforting food it is.




Ingredients
Cucumber - 1 Nos
Green Chili - 7 Nos
Curry Leaves -2 Sticks
Coconut ( grated ) -5 tablespoon
Shallots - 6 Nos
Cumin Seeds - Quarter teaspoon
Turmeric Powder - Half teaspoon
Water - One glass
Dry Red Chili - 5 Nos
Curd - 150 grams
Bird Eye Chili - 1 Nos
Coconut Oil - 2 teaspoon
Fennel Seeds - Quarter teaspoon
Mustard Seeds -Quarter teaspoon
Salt - As per taste


Method of preparation

Take one small size fresh cucumber
Peel cucumber , remove its seeds and cut cucumber into small cubes
Wash cucumber and keep it aside
Take 2 small green chilies and a stick of fresh curry leaves to add while cooking chopped cucumber
Take 5 table spoon grated fresh coconut , 5 green chilies, one small shallot, quarter teaspoon cumin seeds, half teaspoon turmeric powder , 2 petal of curry leaves, add water and grind altogether to make it as a fine paste
Take 5 dry red chilies, 5 shallots and a stick of curry leaves
Chop shallots and cut dry red chilies into half
Take 150 grams of thick curd , add some water and whip curd using a mixi jar to make it smooth yogurt
Add chopped 2 petals of fresh curry leaves along with a bird eye chili and allow to rest the yogurt for 10 minutes
Keep a earthen pot and add chopped cucumber, 2 slited green chilies and a stick of fresh curry leaves
Add one glass of water , cover and cook on a medium flame until cucumber is soft and cooked well
Now add prepared mix and cook until raw smell goes off
Add required salt and mix well
Now add prepared yogurt after keeping on a low flame
Mix well and don't allow to boil
Check salt and add if required
When its heated well and about to boil, put off the flame
Keep another pan and add two teaspoon of coconut oil
To the heated oil add quarter teaspoon of fennel seeds and quarter teaspoon mustard seeds
When its splutters add chopped onion and dry red chilies along with a stick of fresh curry leaves
When its fried well, put off the flame
Transfer seasonings to curry and serve after 5 minutes

Its an yummy curry, goes well with rice.
