മട്ടൺ സ്റ്റൂ || Kerala Mutton Stew || Mutton White Stew in Kerala Style || Recipe No : 10

Mutton stew is a popular recipe which is a delicious dish prepared with Mutton pieces, potatoes and certain Indian spices.It is a Non vegetarian dish, which is served on special occasions.Mutton stew is prepared in coconut oil, which adds special aroma and flavor.Try this Kerala style Mutton stew recipe and enjoy the flavors.





Ingredients

Mutton - 350 grams
White pepper powder - Half teaspoon
Fennel seed  powder - Half teaspoon
Garlic - 15 Nos
Ginger - 2 Small pieces
Green chili - 6 Nos
Curry leaves -3 Sticks
Vinegar- One teaspoon
Onion- 2 Nos
Potato- 2 Nos
White pepper ( Whole  ) - Half teaspoon
Cardamoms - 6 Nos
Fennel seeds ( Whole )-Three fourth teaspoon
Cloves - 5 Nos
Cinnamon - One small stick
Cashew nuts - One fistful
Coconut - Half Coconut ( grated)
Coconut oil- 4 Teaspoon
Salt - As per taste





Method of preparation

Take 350 grams of washed and drained mutton pieces
Marinate with half teaspoon white pepper powder, half teaspoon of fennel seeds powder,one teaspoon chopped garlic, one teaspoon chopped ginger, one chopped green chili, a stick of curry leaves,half teaspoon salt and a teaspoon of vinegar
Mix well and allow to rest for one hour
Take 2 onion, 2 potato,5 green chili, 10 garlic and a small piece of ginger
Chop onion lengthwise,cut potatoes into cubes,slit green chilies,chop garlic and ginger
Take half teaspoon white pepper, 4 cardamoms,half teaspoon fennel seeds, 3 cloves, a stick cinnamon and a fistful of cashew nuts
Powder the spices and grind cashew nuts to fine paste
Take some grated coconut and quarter teaspoon fennel seeds, 2 cloves and 2 cardamoms
Grind altogether and get its first and second extracted coconut milk
Get half cup first extracted milk and one glass second extracted coconut milk
In a pressure cooker add mutton pieces and cook for 4 whistles
Keep an earthen pot and add 3 teaspoon of coconut oil
To the heated oil add chopped onion
Add some salt and sort well
Add chopped ginger and garlic , sort well
Add slited green chilies mix well
Now add masala and sort till raw smell goes off
Add chopped potato and mix to the masala
Then add cooked mutton pieces and mix to the spices

Put a stick of washed curry leaves and add second extracted coconut milk and cook potatoes
When it boils add prepared cashew nut paste, cook well
Check salt and add if required
When potatoes cooked well and gravy thickens add first extracted thick coconut milk and just heat it
Don't allow to boil and finally check salt and its flavors
Add a stick of curry leaves and a teaspoon of raw coconut oil
Put off the flame and serve after 5 minutes

Its a tasty and delicious mutton stew .Good with appam, idiappam, pathiri or even bread
