Kumbilappam ( Koozha chakka) Ep No:178

Kumbilappam or steamed jackfruit cone cakes are one of those traditional Kerala dishes which tickle everyone's nostalgia.These are wrapped in fragrant bay leaves ,or banana leaves, which is a healthy dish that can be served with tea.This recipe is very traditional method which is used to make kubilappam with koozha chakka , where these jackfruit has threads in it.Following this method, you can prepare yummy kumbilappam with out threads in it.Do try and give us a feedback.

 Ingredients

Jackfruit-One Nos(Koozha chakka)
Cardamom-15Nos
Cumin Seeds- One teaspoon
Sugar-Two teaspoon
Salt- Half teaspoon
Coconut - One Cup, freshly grated
Jaggery- One cup, grated
Rice flour- Roasted, 3 cups
Bay leaves/ Banana leaves- 20 Nos



Method of preparation
Take ripped jackfruit, remove its seeds
Keep a pan over the strainer, press and spread in rotatory motion.
Pulp of jackfruit collect in bottom pan and thread of jackfruit alone left in the upper strainer.
Keep a pan and pour pulp of jackfruit , stir well and bring to boil.
Take 15 cardamom, one teaspoon of cumin seeds and two teaspoon sugar, grind well.
Take 3 cups of roasted flour, and boiled jackfruit pulp , one cup jaggery ,half teaspoon salt and a cup of grated coconut.
Mix and get a smooth dough.
Keep the mix in a banana leaf or bay leaf.
Steam them half an hour in high flame.
