Ozhichu Koottan Kerala Style || Ep No :93

 Ozhichu Koottan is a special curry which is prepared by Southern part of Kerala. This curry is usually poured over rice which makes the rice super tasty. It is mostly prepared in all houses almost everyday along with tapioca and fish curry. The tanginess and creamy coconut gives an amazing taste to the dish. With less ingredients, can prepare this curry with short duration.



Take 6 tablespoon of grated coconut, quarter teaspoon cumin seeds, a pinch of turmeric powder, half tablespoon red chili powder, small ball size tamarind, 3 shallots in a mixi jar.

Add half glass of water and grind well .

Transfer the mix to an earthen pot.

Add 2 glasses of water, half teaspoon salt,Mix well with out any lumps.

Switch on the flame and cook on high flame.

No need to stir always.

Once it heats up stir in between .

Never allow to boil.

When it starts to boil, stir well and switch off the flame.

Switch on the flame and keep a pan , add 2 tablespoon of coconut oil.

When it heats up, add quarter teaspoon of mustard seeds .

When mustard seeds splutters , add 2 chopped shallots , stir well.

When shallots changes its color , add a dry red chili .

When red chili starts to change colour, add 2 sticks of curry leaves , switch off the flame.

Transfer the seasoning to the curry.

Cover for 5 minutes, serve with hot rice.

Grated Coconut - 6 Tablespoon
Cumin Seeds - Quarter Teaspoon
Red Chili Powder - Half Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder - One Pinch Tamarind - Small Size
Coconut oil - 2 Tablespoon
Shallots - 5 Nos Salt - As Per Taste
Curry Leaves - 2 Sticks
Mustard Seeds - Quarter Teaspoon Dry Red Chili - One
Water - 2 And Half Cup
